Saryazd Castle is a Sassanid fortification located in the village of Sar Yazd, approximately 50 kilometers south of Yazd city in Iran's Mehriz County. Built at the strategic intersection of the Silk Road and the Spice Route, the castle's adobe and mud construction reflects architectural traditions spanning multiple Iranian dynasties—from Sassanid through Samanid, Ilkhanid, and Safavid periods. Its layered architectural heritage testifies to its enduring importance as a defensive structure along one of history's most significant trade corridors, and it is recognized as part of Iran's National Heritage.
