Schellemolen is a smock mill situated on a small hill in Damme, Belgium. This traditional windmill represents the vernacular industrial architecture once common to the Low Countries, where wind power was harnessed to process grain and other materials. The smock construction—a timber-framed design with a rotating upper section—allowed the mill's sails to be adjusted toward prevailing winds while the stationary base remained fixed.
