Şeytan Castle, also known in Georgian as Kajis Tsikhe, stands on cliffs in the Çıldır district of Ardahan Province, Turkey, about 1.5 kilometres northeast of the village of Yıldırımtepe. The surrounding cliffs were as important to its defence as its walls. Used continuously from the Hellenistic era through the Ottoman period, it was modified by each occupier and contains cisterns, a staircase descending to the water, and a chapel. Its name, meaning "the Devil's castle," comes from a local superstition about an evil spirit sighted in the area.
