The Shinjuku Mitsui Building is a high-rise tower in Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo, designed by Nihon Sekkei and completed in 1974. It held the distinction of being Japan's tallest building from its completion until 1978, when Sunshine 60 surpassed it. The structure exemplifies 1970s American skyscraper design and is immediately recognizable for its striking black diagonal bracing on its east and west facades. At ground level, the building features a sunken garden and expansive plaza, while a rooftop garden occupies the tower's summit. Its distinctive black facades distinguish it prominently within Shinjuku's skyline, and the building appeared in the 1984 film *The Return of Godzilla*. Mitsui Fudosan owns the property.
