Demolished or destroyed.
Shrewsbury Abbey, formally the Abbey Church of the Holy Cross, stands east of the town centre in Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire, England. The Norman Earl Roger de Montgomery founded it in 1083 as a Benedictine monastery, and it grew into one of England's most influential abbeys and an important centre of pilgrimage. Much of the abbey was destroyed in the 16th century, but its nave survived as a parish church, which still serves as mother church of the Parish of Holy Cross. It is a Grade I listed building.
