Shuckburgh Hall is a privately owned country house at Upper Shuckburgh in Warwickshire, near Daventry. The estate has been home to the Shuckburgh family since the 12th century, though the surviving structure originates from the 14th and 15th centuries and has undergone extensive alteration and extension. The notable main front, designed by Henry Edward Kendall Jr. in Italianate style, was added in 1844. The house received Grade II* listed status in 1952 and remains closed to the public. The hall is historically significant as the site of an observatory established by Sir George Shuckburgh-Evelyn, who commissioned a celebrated telescope from Jesse Ramsden in 1781 and received it a decade later; this instrument was later transferred to the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, and eventually to the Science Museum, London, in 1927.
