The Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity House, built in 1907 in Champaign, Illinois, stands as the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign's only fraternity house to embody Prairie School architecture. Designed by architects George and Albert Dean for the Illinois Beta chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the house synthesizes Prairie School and American Craftsman elements: horizontal lines, limestone caps and trim, and tall piers rising above the porch roof reflect the Prairie aesthetic, while exposed rafters and a gable roof draw from Craftsman tradition. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, the building represents a distinctive architectural hybrid within the university's fraternity housing landscape.
