Sparta, United States
Exterior only
Visible from the street; the inside is private.
The Monroe County Museum in Sparta, Wisconsin, was built in 1923 as a meeting hall for a local Masonic lodge and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Sparta Masonic Temple. Designed by Parkinson & Dockendorff of La Crosse, it blends Classical Revival proportions with the low-pitched hip roof and wide eaves of the Prairie Style. Its reinforced concrete and steel frame is clad in cream brick, with two-story pilasters and a red tile roof.
