Speyer Cathedral, known as the Kaiserdom, stands in Speyer, Germany, and is the seat of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Speyer. Begun in 1030 under Conrad II, it is a triple-aisled, vaulted basilica of red sandstone and the largest surviving Romanesque church. It serves as the burial place of Salian, Staufer and Habsburg emperors and kings, and UNESCO inscribed it as a World Heritage Site in 1981.
