Spoleto Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is the principal church of the Umbrian city of Spoleto, Italy. Built from the second half of the twelfth century after Frederick Barbarossa's troops devastated the city, it is essentially Romanesque, though later modified. Its upper façade carries a Byzantine-hieratic mosaic of Christ giving a Benediction, signed by Solsternus and dated 1207. The apse holds frescoes of the Life of the Virgin begun by Filippo Lippi in 1467.
