St. Andreas is a Romanesque church in Cologne's old town, one of twelve churches built in the city in the 10th century. Archbishop Gero consecrated it in 974, dedicating it to St. Andrew after an earlier church on the site had been dedicated to St. Matthew. It was rebuilt in the Romanesque style in the 12th century. Its crypt holds a 3rd-century Roman sarcophagus containing the remains of the theologian Albertus Magnus, and the Dominican Order has ministered to the church since 1947.
