St. Francis Xavier Cathedral stands at 205 Church Street in Vincennes, Indiana, opposite George Rogers Clark National Historical Park. Its Greek Revival church dates from 1826 and was built on or near the site of two earlier Catholic churches. Elevated to a cathedral in 1834, it served as the seat of the Diocese of Vincennes until 1898, and Pope Paul VI named it a minor basilica in 1970. Its crypt holds the remains of the first four bishops of Vincennes.
