St. Gereon's Basilica is a Roman Catholic church in the Altstadt-Nord district of Cologne, Germany, designated a minor basilica in 1920. Its core is an oval central building of the second half of the 4th century, one of the most important ancient representative structures north of the Alps. Between 1219 and 1227 it was converted into a decagon, given Gothic galleries and a central dome, and it remains an architectural heritage monument in North Rhine-Westphalia.
