St. Hedwig's Cathedral is the Catholic cathedral of the Archdiocese of Berlin, standing on Bebelplatz in the historic centre of Berlin. Erected from 1747 to 1773 by order of Frederick the Great to plans by Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff, it is dedicated to Hedwig of Silesia and built of brick. Damaged in Allied bombing during the Second World War, its interior was restored in post-war modernist style between 1952 and 1963.
