St James's Square is a garden square in the St James's district of the City of Westminster, London, and the only square in that district. Its predominantly Georgian and Neo-Georgian architecture surrounds a garden centred on a high, stone-plinthed equestrian statue of William III, erected in 1808. For its first two centuries or so it was one of London's most fashionable residential streets, and it now houses the headquarters of businesses including BP and Rio Tinto, along with clubs and institutions such as Chatham House and the London Library.
