Saint Michael's Church (Michaelerkirche) stands at Michaelerplatz in Vienna's Innere Stadt, opposite St. Michael's Gate of the Hofburg Palace. It is one of the city's oldest churches and one of its few remaining Romanesque buildings, a late Romanesque, early Gothic structure dating from about 1220 to 1240. Once the parish church of the Imperial Court, it has been altered over more than eight centuries, and its present appearance dates from 1792.
