St. Patrick's Cathedral in Armagh, Northern Ireland, is the Roman Catholic seat of the Archbishop of Armagh, Primate of All Ireland. Built in phases between 1840 and 1904 in the Gothic Revival style by James Joseph McCarthy and Thomas Duff, it replaced the medieval cathedral appropriated by the Church of Ireland at the Irish Reformation. It stands on a hill, as does its Anglican counterpart.
