St. Paul's Church (Paulskirche) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is a neoclassical sandstone building designed by Johann Friedrich Christian Hess and built between 1789 and 1833 to replace the medieval Barfüßerkirche. It served as Frankfurt's main Protestant-Lutheran church until 1944. From 1848 to 1849 it housed the Frankfurt National Assembly, Germany's first parliament for the whole country, and it remains a national symbol of German democracy.
