St Peter's College is a Catholic secondary school for boys in central Auckland's Grafton district, established in 1939 in the Art Deco style. Founded in the Edmund Rice tradition and dedicated to St Peter, it succeeded earlier Catholic and secular schools dating back to 1841. The Outhwaite family donated the Mountain Road site, which the Christian Brothers staffed for seven decades. With over 1,300 students, it is one of New Zealand's largest Catholic schools and the oldest existing Catholic boys' school in Auckland still occupying its original location. The college was integrated into the state system in 1982 alongside 240 other Catholic schools nationwide. For nearly fifty years, it benefited from direct access to an adjacent railway station built specifically for the school.
