St. Peter and Paul in Weimar, Germany, is a Gothic church built beginning in 1401 that serves as the town's principal ecclesiastical structure. Also known as Herderkirche after the philosopher Johann Gottfried Herder, it has functioned as a Lutheran parish church since the Reformation in 1525. Distinct from the courtly Schloßkirche, this Stadtkirche (town church) forms part of Classical Weimar, a World Heritage Site inscribed in 1998 that encompasses monuments testifying to the cultural significance and exceptional architecture of Weimar during the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
