St. Thomas Church (Thomaskirche) is a Lutheran church in Leipzig, Germany, near the western edge of the inner city ring road. Begun in 1401 in the Gothic style and designed by Kunz Nierade and Constantin Lipsius, it was rebuilt over the centuries and damaged by Allied incendiary bombs in 1943, yet it mainly retains the character of a late-Gothic hall church. Johann Sebastian Bach served as its music director from 1723 until his death in 1750, and he is buried there.
