The St. Urban Tower in Košice, Slovakia is a Renaissance prismatic campanile crowned with a pyramidal roof, erected in the sixteenth century and designated a cultural heritage monument. The tower houses the St. Urban Bell, a seven-tonne bell cast by bell-founder Franciscus Illenfeld of Olomouc in 1557 and dedicated to Saint Urban, patron of vine-dressers. In 1775, a Baroque-style onion dome with an iron double cross was added to the roof. An arcade passage was constructed around the tower in 1912, and its exterior walls incorporate thirty-six old gravestones from the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, along with one Roman stone from the fourth century. Following severe fire damage in 1966 that destroyed the original bell, the tower underwent reconstruction and reopened in 1971 with a replica bell installed in the campanile. The tower has housed various exhibitions, including displays of foundry work and, from the 2000s to the early 2010s, a wax museum portraying historical figures from Košice's past.
