The Stadt- und Pfarrkirche St. Marien in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Germany, is a Gothic church begun in 1281, designed by Carlo Ignazio Pozzi. It is the town's civic church, where Martin Luther and Johannes Bugenhagen preached and where the mass was first celebrated in German. Regarded as the mother church of the Protestant Reformation, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.
