The Sulayman Pasha Mosque stands inside the Citadel of Cairo, atop Mount Mokattam in Islamic Cairo, Egypt. Built in the 16th century by Suleiman Pasha al-Khadem, one of the Ottoman-era rulers of Egypt, it was first erected for the janissaries stationed in the northern enclosure. It is considered the first mosque in Egypt built in Ottoman architectural style, and it also serves as a mausoleum and shrine.
