The Sultan Sulaiman Royal Mosque in Klang, Selangor, is the state's principal royal mosque, constructed by the British and officially opened in 1923 by Sultan Alaeddin Sulaiman Shah. Blending Moorish and Art Deco styles in a composition distinctive among Malaysian mosques, the building features the Tangga Diraja (royal stairs) transferred from Istana Alam Shah and houses a royal mausoleum where Sultan Salahuddin was later interred. It served as Selangor's main state mosque until the establishment of Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque in Shah Alam, and is designated a national historic building of Malaysia.
