The Tempietto, a small freestanding martyrium by Donato Bramante in the cloister of San Pietro in Montorio in Rome, Italy, marks the site traditionally regarded as the location of Saint Peter's crucifixion. Commissioned by Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile and completed around 1502, it is considered a masterpiece of High Renaissance architecture, admired for its harmonious proportions and its symbolic adaptation of Classical and early Christian elements.
