Designed by Sir Herbert Baker and completed in 1921, this Grade II* listed war memorial stands in Winchester as a tribute to the fallen from Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, and Winchester. Baker, one of the era's most prominent architects, brought his characteristic classical sensibility to the commission, creating a structure that reflects the solemnity and commemorative ambitions of the immediate postwar period. The memorial remains an important architectural landmark of its kind in southern England.
