The Rock
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Exterior only
Visible from the street; the inside is private.
Located on Gustav Mahler square in Amsterdam, The Rock is a neo-futurist office tower completed in 2009, designed by architect Erick van Egeraat. Part of the Mahler 4 office development, the building distinguishes itself through its distinctive use of crooked glass, aluminum, stone, and concrete elements that create an illusion of greater mass at the upper levels compared to the lower sections. The rough aesthetic deliberately evokes the form of a rock, and the tower ranks among the tallest structures in Amsterdam's Zuidas district.
