The Theatre of Nations occupies a heritage-listed building in Moscow's Tverskoy District originally constructed in 1885 as the Korsh Theatre. Redesigned in Russian Revival style by architect Mikhail Nikolayevich Chichagov and refurbished in 1987, the venue operates without a resident acting company but functions as a cultural crossroads, hosting national and multinational arts festivals, preserving ties between Russia and former Soviet republics, and presenting experimental work alongside established international productions. Its programming spans a notably broad range, reflecting a mission to introduce Moscow audiences to significant international artistic achievements while allowing its productions to tour globally.
