The Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse stands at 40 Centre Street on Foley Square in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Designed by Cass Gilbert and his son, Cass Gilbert Jr., in the Classical Revival style, it opened on January 15, 1936. Its gray Minnesota granite facade rises from a six-story base to a 31-story office tower, and it was renamed in 2001 in honor of Supreme Court justice Thurgood Marshall.
