Tower Bridge is a Grade I listed combined bascule, suspension and, until 1960, cantilever bridge spanning the River Thames in London, close to the Tower of London. Designed by Horace Jones and engineered by John Wolfe Barry with Henry Marc Brunel, it was built in granite, concrete and steel between 1886 and 1894 and opened on 30 June 1894. Its two Gothic Revival towers, each 65 metres high, are linked by high-level walkways and flank a central pair of bascules that lift to let shipping pass.
