Tyne Cot Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery, located near Zonnebeke outside Passendale in Belgium, is the largest burial ground for Commonwealth forces in the world. Designed by architect Herbert Baker and established in 1917, the cemetery and its memorial occupy the Ypres Salient on the Western Front, serving as a burial ground for the dead of World War I. Now a protected monument and World Heritage Site maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, it stands as a principal memorial to the missing of that conflict.
