The uMhlanga Rocks Lighthouse stands on the beach at uMhlanga in the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Completed in 1954, the round concrete tower is white below and red above, rising 21 m to a focal plane 25 m above high water. Unmanned and still active, its rotating electric light is visible for 24 nautical miles, while a fixed red light lets ships outside Durban Harbour check their position, since seeing it means a vessel is too close to shore.
