The Uptown Theatre, also known as the Balaban and Katz Uptown Theatre, is a former movie palace and concert venue at the corner of Lawrence Avenue and Broadway in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. Designed by Rapp and Rapp and built for the Balaban & Katz chain, it is the largest remaining movie palace in Chicago, with 4,381 seats and an interior volume said to exceed that of Radio City Music Hall in New York. It has been closed since 1981, and plans announced in 2018 to renovate it fell through in 2021.
