Varnhem Abbey, a Gothic limestone monastery in Västergötland's Skara Municipality, was founded around 1150 by Cistercian monks from Alvastra Abbey. Like all Cistercian establishments, it followed the Order's standardized architectural plan, allowing the various rooms and halls to be consistently arranged regardless of location. The abbey was demolished in 1529 and now survives as ruins, recognized as a cultural heritage monument in Sweden's Fornminnesregistret.
