Vienna Central Cemetery (Wiener Zentralfriedhof) lies on the southern outskirts of Vienna, in the outer district of Simmering, Austria. It is one of the largest cemeteries in the world by number of people interred and the best known of the city's nearly 50 cemeteries. Its name reflects its status as Vienna's principal burial ground rather than a central location. The site dates from 1874 and is listed among Austria's protected heritage objects.
