Vyborg Castle is a medieval fortress in Vyborg, Russia, built by the Swedes during the Middle Ages, around which the town later grew. It served as the Swedish realm's stronghold in the Karelian region and the kingdom's first line of defence against the Russians, and in the late Middle Ages its military importance ranked second only to the fortified capital, Stockholm. Today it houses the Vyborg Regional Museum and holds federal cultural heritage status.
