Built in 1898 in the village of Tivoli, New York, the Watts De Peyster Fireman's Hall is a Richardsonian Romanesque brick structure that stands on Broadway as a rare example of an urban-style "storefront" firehouse adapted for a small rural community. Funded and donated to the village by resident John Watts De Peyster, the building served the local fire department until a new firehouse was constructed in 1986, after which it became the village hall. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 and designated a contributing property to the Hudson River Historic District—itself a National Historic Landmark—three years later, the building remains a distinctive architectural artifact of late-nineteenth-century civic infrastructure.
