Built in 1881 at 260 Chapman Street in Waynesville, Ohio, this Neoclassical structure served as the town's first fire station. A rear extension added in 1886—the same year a fire truck was acquired—converted the building into a dual-purpose facility housing both firefighting equipment and a jail. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, the Engine House and Lockup stands as a compact reminder of late nineteenth-century municipal priorities in small-town America.
