The Wellington Arch is a Grade I-listed triumphal arch in the City of Westminster, forming the centrepiece of Hyde Park Corner in central London. Decimus Burton designed it, and it was built between 1826 and 1830 as part of an approach route from Hyde Park to Buckingham Palace. In 1882–1883 it was moved a short distance and rebuilt facing west at the top of Constitution Hill. Its name comes from a colossal equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington by Matthew Cotes Wyatt, installed in 1846 over Burton's objections. Since 1912 the arch has been surmounted by Adrian Jones's bronze Peace Descending on the Quadriga of War.
