Located in Tobata ward, Kitakyushu, the West Japan Industrial Club is an Art Nouveau residence designed by Tatsuno Kingo in 1912 and the architect's only surviving private house. Originally built for Matsumoto Kenjiro, a wealthy industrialist and founder of Kyushu Institute of Technology, the structure features a main house alongside a traditional Japanese-style annex. Designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan, the building opens to the public twice yearly and now houses a restaurant and concert venue. The residence gained additional cultural prominence as a filming location for the 2003 film *Spy Sorge*.
