Built in 1936 in Otero County, the White Sands Comfort Station exemplifies Pueblo Revival Style architecture, designed by architect Lyle E. Bennett. This modest structure served the practical needs of visitors to the region while embracing the distinctive aesthetic vocabulary of the Pueblo Revival movement, which drew inspiration from the traditional adobe architecture of the American Southwest. Now recognized as a contributing property to the National Register of Historic Places, the comfort station stands as a testament to how regional architectural traditions were applied even to utilitarian public buildings during the Depression era.
