Windsor Castle is a royal residence at Windsor in Berkshire, about 25 miles west of central London, and the longest-occupied palace in Europe. Built in the 11th century after the Norman invasion, it was remodelled under Charles II, who had much of it rebuilt with the architect Hugh May, creating extravagant Baroque interiors. Its 15th-century St George's Chapel is considered one of the supreme achievements of English Perpendicular Gothic design.
