Wolf Rock Lighthouse stands on a single small rock about 18 nautical miles east of St Mary's in the Isles of Scilly and 8 nautical miles southwest of Land's End, Cornwall. Designed by James Nicholas Douglass and James Walker, it was built between 1861 and 1869 and rises 41 metres, constructed from Cornish granite prepared at Penzance, with concrete also among its materials. It was automated in 1988 and was the first lighthouse in the world fitted with a helipad.
