The Yeraltı Mosque (meaning "Underground Mosque") is an Ottoman-era mosque located in Karaköy, Beyoğlu, in Istanbul. Its defining characteristic is architectural rather than stylistic: the prayer hall and principal features are situated entirely below ground level. The mosque is also known as Kurşunlu Mahzen, a name recalling its historical use as a storage space where the belongings of captured Umayyad warriors were sealed away with molten lead.
