Designed by Gilbert Stanley Underwood for the Utah Parks Company, the Zion Inn was constructed in 1934 within Zion National Park as a cafeteria, gift shop, and administrative center for surrounding tourist cabins. Built in the National Park Service Rustic idiom, the structure exhibits characteristic rubblestone pilasters at each corner with "framing out" style infill and a log-framed roof. The National Park Service converted it to a nature center in 1972. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, the building was subsequently restored to Underwood's original exterior design.
