Designed by the prestigious architectural firm McKim, Mead & White and completed in 1905, this limestone Carnegie library stands on West 135th Street in Manhattan. Built as part of Andrew Carnegie's ambitious library donation program, the structure exemplifies the refined Beaux-Arts style favored by the firm during the early twentieth century. The building is now recognized as a New York City Landmark and appears on both the National Register of Historic Places as both a listed property and contributing property to a historic district.
