Located at the corner of Rue du Général de Castelnau and Rue du Maréchal Foch in Strasbourg's Neustadt district, this triangular Art Nouveau building was constructed between 1901 and 1903 by architects Franz Lütke and Heinrich Backes, who maintained their office within the structure itself. The pair, professional partners from 1898 to 1907, designed the multi-story residence using reinforced concrete to achieve a distinctive lightness and grace. Despite its modern structural materials, the building exemplifies the fluidity characteristic of Jugendstil, earning recognition as "probably the finest Art Nouveau apartment building in the city." Its dual facades address the corner intersection, emphasizing the geometric constraints of its triangular plot. Classified as a Monument historique since 1975, it stands among several other notable Art Nouveau residences the prolific duo created throughout Strasbourg, many of which share similar heritage status.
