AMA Plaza, formerly known as 330 North Wabash, stands as a 212-meter tower in Chicago's River North neighborhood designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in the International Style, with C. F. Murphy serving as associate architect. Completed in 1972, the 52-story building was the last designed by Mies before his death in 1969, and was originally conceived as the Chicago headquarters for IBM following the company's commission in 1966. The structure features a steel-frame superstructure clad in a glass curtain wall with anodized aluminum vertical mullions, with a setback arcade colonnade framing the lobby and upper stories of nearly identical design. The building sits on a prominent site near the Chicago River, surrounded by an outdoor public plaza. Since 2013, floors 2 through 13 have housed the Langham, Chicago hotel, while office tenants occupy the remaining stories. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a Chicago Landmark, the building has undergone major renovations in recent decades as its primary occupancy shifted from corporate offices to mixed hotel and office use.
