At the southeast corner of Fifth Avenue and East 81st Street on Manhattan's Upper East Side, 995 Fifth Avenue stands as a 16-story residential co-op directly across from Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Designed by architect Rosario Candela and constructed in 1926 as The Stanhope Apartment Hotel, the building was converted to a residential cooperative with 26 units in 2005. Now known by its street address, it remains a prominent landmark in one of New York's most prestigious neighborhoods.
